About Pangea
About 250 million years ago, when the dinosaurs appeared, the Earth's continents formed a single supercontinent called Pangea. It later split into the five continents we know.
Today, as globalisation gathers pace, international cooperation in education and the exchange of knowledge matter more than ever. Under the motto "Mathematics connects", the Pangea mathematics competition aims to bring together students from different towns, social backgrounds and levels of learning, and to inspire them to discover the joy of mathematics. Children get the chance to share their experience and the pleasure of solving mathematical problems with other students.
Philosophy
Sadly, mathematics frightens many children. But this fear is unfounded, and it can be overcome by experiencing success. That is why we want every child to feel on an equal footing when solving the Pangea problems, which were designed to develop creative problem-solving. This motivates even students who find learning harder to pursue mathematics with confidence.
The Pangea mathematics competition combines the pleasure of solving puzzles, logical thinking and the art of arithmetic. Even students who did not like mathematics before are encouraged to discover it anew and even to enjoy it. Participants are encouraged to share their experience with friends and classmates and to pass on their love of mathematics!
